Last update:All Ivy League schools are now test-free for the 2020-2021 admissions cycle. On June 18, Princeton University became the first of eight Ivy League schools to drop its early application process.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many high schools and universities across the United States have closed or initiated distance learning for the remainder of the school year. College Board and ACT testing agenciescalled offand postponed several test dates in response to the outbreak, prompting many universities to change standardized testing requirements for potential candidates.

These are the current standardized testing guidelines for students at eight Ivy League institutions for the next admissions cycle, including the SAT, ACT, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and English Language Testing Guidelines.

University of Pennsylvania

Penn no longer requires the SAT and ACT tests for applicants in the 2020-2021 admissions cycle.

Due to test scheduling cancellations during the COVID-19 outbreak, Penn will not require an SAT or ACT in the next admissions cycle.

Early June decision to go without testing for a year follows that of the College BoardNoticethat he would not take a SAT at home this summer, according to a Penn Admissions press release.

Although students can submit standardized test scores, those who do not will not be penalized.

Brown also explained that there will be a space within the joint application for students to indicate how this year's events may have affected their exam plans.

The university no longer recommends taking the SAT subject tests for Class of 2025 applicants. Subject tests will be considered part of the application if taken, but applicants who have not taken the tests will not be penalized.

Students who have completed exams are encouraged to submit their scores. However, the SAT or ACT tests are not required for the Columbia 2020-2021 admissions process. Those unable or unwilling to submit test results will not be disadvantaged.

"The rigor of a student's curriculum, academic achievement and demonstrated intellectual curiosity will continue to be at the center of our review," announced Columbia's Undergraduate Admissions Office.

The SAT subject test results are alsoOptionalstudents who apply to Columbia and those who choose not to take tests or submit test scores will not be penalized in the school's admissions process.

Regardless of whether or not students submit test scores, Cornell said there will be more emphasis on the non-test elements of their applications.

The SAT subject tests arenot requiredfor students applying to any of Cornell's undergraduate universities during the next intake cycle. However, subject examinations are not considered for applicants to the Faculty of Engineering. HarvardAnnouncedon June 15, which will be exam-free for the 2020-2021 admissions cycle. Candidates for the Class of 2025 will no longer be required to submit standardized test scores, including SAT and ACT scores, for fall admission.

For international applicants, who Harvard says may have fewer opportunities to take standardized tests in the US, the university's admissions team said it still "expects to receive predicted or actual national test results."

In a "Special Message to High School Students," Harvardtheseyour candidates won't be disadvantaged if they don't take the SAT subject tests.

Princeton academic departments are currently reviewing their credit policies for the May 2020 AP exam due to changes in exam coverage and format. Submission of results from levels IB and A is used for placement purposes only, according to the university.expressionto applicants.
