10. 2019. Oklahoma
Fraction:Kansas State University 48-41
Why is it important:even if it isn'tChris KleemanIt was his first big win as a head coach in the 2019 season, his biggest, and probably still is. Enter the tax number. Oklahoma, No. 5 nationally, was the favorite and Kansas had an early lead but held on. Skylar Thompson scored four rushing touchdowns in the hard-fought victory. A win will prove that Klieman can coach at the FBS level and will be a sign that K-State has become a major player in the Big 12 under his leadership.
9. 2005. Missouri
Why is it important:It was Bill Snyder's last game as coach of the Wildcats. After a disappointing season, K-State defeated the Tigers with the game-winning INT late return by Brandon Archer. Most importantly, the win is symbolic of what Snyder has built during his time as coach. Building a program from the ground up, this thrilling victory marked the end of the career of one of the greatest coaches in college football history ... or so we thought.
8. 1989 North Texas
Why is it important:In his first season as head coach, Snyder posted a multi-season 30-game winless streak and earned Kansas State the nickname "Futility U." Led by a group of hardy young men who became known as the "Foundations," Snyder's first victory was sealed by Karl Straw as a Frank Hernandez moment when officials changed plans. Without this win, who knows when the streak will end and if K-State will be as successful as it was in the 90's.
7. Nebraska i 2000
Why is it important:After several successful seasons, including its first win over Nebraska in 30 years in 1998, 2000 proved that victory was no fluke. Jonathoan Beasley connected with Quincy Morgan to help K-State beat the Huskers in the snow for their second Big 12 North title in three seasons. 5. Cotton bowl 2000
Why is it important:After losing the Big 12 championship game, Kansas State responded with a big win over Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day 2001. In a blizzard masterfully orchestrated by Beasley, the Wildcats overcame the might of the SEC to win the school's second-biggest bowl game history. The win helped K-State finish the season ranked eighth in the nation.
4. Carnival Cup 1997
Why is it important:defeated byDonovan McNabb, the Philadelphia Eagles' future quarterback, ismichael biskupHe starred at Kansas State on this day. Bishop won Offensive Player of the Game, a win that marked the best season in school history. 1997 started three straight 11-win seasons for Bill Snyder's Wildcats. With the win, K-State finished the season 11-1 and set itself up for the most historic season in history: 1998.
3. 2012. West Virginia
Why is it important:After a 2011 season in which Snyder's second term finally got underway and a Cotton Bowl appearance, the 2012 season made the Wildcats look like a national power again. enter the race against a Heisman contenderJano Smedand West Virginia,Colin KleinHe leaves as a Heisman contender. The game would cement his status as one of Kansas State's all-time greats and announce to the nation that Kansas State was a national title contender in 2012. Although the Cats fell short, they would finish the season as Big 12 champions.
2. 1998 Nebraska
Why is it important:Entering the game, K-State was 9-0 ranked No. 1 in the nation, beat the Huskers, snapped one of the nation's longest losing streaks and announced to the nation that Kansas was for real. The team went 10-0 at Missouri and finished the season 11-0, within one win of the national championship, before losing in heartbreaking fashion in the Big 12 title. However, the win over Nebraska officially marked Bill Snder's ascension to the mountain in Manhattan.
1. 2003 Big 12 Champion
Place:Kansas City, Missouri
Why is it important:Entering the game as huge underdogs, many thought it was impossible for the Wildcats to beat the No. 1. 1 home team. It burns as soon as it comes outrobertson'sIDarren SprouseLed Kansas State to its first Big 12 championship in school history. Oklahoma still reached the national championship game, and Kansas State came away with the division title, telling the nation that after all the success Snyder and the Wildcats have had, they finally have some substantial hardware to add a trophy to.
